2004 Season to be Eclectic and Exciting By Michael Barrett The 2004 Moab Music Festival promises to be a musically eclectic season, ranging from classic chamber music to traditional music, jazz and bluegrass. We will also embrace the work of one of America’s most respected modern composers (who will be with us) as well as the music, song, and poetry of the Harlem Renaissance of the twenties and thirties. Our venues will range from riversides to red rock landscapes and tree shaded parks as well as our fine indoor Moab concert spaces. |

Music in Concert With the Landscape?? By Tanya Tomkins The twelfth season of the Moab Music Festival will mark my eleventh year of performing in Moab. Little did I know that first year, that this Festival was to become one of the most exciting venues of my career as a cellist. At the time I arrived in Moab for my first Festival, I was living in Holland, a country that can only be described as flat. As I drove along the Colorado River from Grand Junction, I grew more and more terrified as the walls of red rock grew taller. I was having an experience more extreme than culture shock. “Landscape intimidation" might be a better description. I wanted to scream, "Okay! I get the point. Everything here is HUGE!" |
